Austin D. - Eagle Project

Domes for MacDill

MacDill Airforce Base, Tampa, FL

This Project is

I have currently been planning for my Eagle project, which is building and submersing oyster domes for Tampa Bay Watch.  After all of the domes are built, they will be submersed/placed  along  the shoreline at MacDill Air Force Base.

My Eagle project is a process that will take several weeks to complete. Therefore, I will be having multiple work dates.

Because of the process of my Eagle project, I will only need small groups of 4-5 people at each work date to help build the domes. So If you can make either of these dates please email me and include the day(s) you would like to work on. At each of these work dates, you will be handling and pouring concrete, so make sure you wear old clothes and shoes.

If you want to know more about my project and oyster domes please feel free click on the link www.reefball.org

These domes / reef balls are used around the world for various reasons and are a great benefit to our environment. Some of them (the Golliath’s) weigh as much as 12,000 pounds.  The ones I will be building are called Lo-pros or Oyster domes and weigh around 90-100 pounds.
